Osteomyelitis of the great toe

3 phase skeletal scintigraphy is used for the detection of osteomyelitis.

1st Phase - Blood Flow

2nd Phase - Blood pool

3rd Phase - Bone phase

With osteomyelitis there is increased blood flow to the area affected,  increased blood pool on the immediate images, and increased uptake on the delayed images.
